We are parting out a 93 Grand, 4.0l, AW4, NP242. I believe the motor is sold, and some of the body parts are spoken for. PM me if you need anything. Thanks.

very rare! any ZJ guys out there...you need this trans. Awesome upgrade over the 42RE.
I had one in my 93, never one issue and it was tough. Was only avail. for introductory model first few months of production.
you can do neat shift things with it too if you have a built rig. Weakest crappiest thing about a ZJ? The 42RE. Ditch it!
Good luck with the sale guys!

The AW4 is the best transmission I have ever used. If anyone is doing the swap, the electronic shifting modual would be needed as well I believe, and maybe teh computer? As stated by creepy, this is an awsome upgrade for any Grand Cherokee. Da Dogg

Does anyone know if the AW4 and NP242 will swap into my 1997 zj with a 5.2 ? If it will work for me what are the specific parts that I would also need from the 93 zj to make it work?
Thanks

Just an update.
Brother inlaw is taking the body panels and axles, not the housings. The rest is still up for grabs. The 4.0 is not sold so it comes with it. It is tired but runs strong. I would like to sell the rest as a whole. If I part it, things will get scattered all about. I am getting quite a few inquiries on individual parts.
The best way to do a 42re conversion is to have the rest of this rig sitting beside your other one. We can bolt the wheels on the front hub assemblies, and drag the back on timbers to get it on your trailer. So far I have offers but no money. Last offer was $500. I don't want to sell it out from underneath anyone but no deposit=no hold.
