Scored some nice shelves off kijiji, down in Truro. Picked 'em up Thursday and blew up the transmission in my pickup on the way back. BOO! But anyway....they are really nice and in perfect shape. rearranged some stuff and beginning to populate the shelves with items. i need good storage solutions in my little shop with a wack of gear. space is at a premium. They were $100 each, but should last a lifetime. Sometimes ya gotta shell out a bit for nice stuff, i talked buddy down $40. My mechanic's toolbox and floor cabinet are full of 'stuff' that shouldn't be in them. Brake fittings and bolts and stuff. I have tools with no place to put them, so these racks will free up space in the toolboxes again. yes, I am ANAL about storage. I love putting stuff away and making a place for it, etc. these units will bring weeks of enjoyment! i need to get some tape for my labeller. ;D

They would not deal much, declined $175, and took a couple of calls to go to $200. I was dealing with a guy who had to call someone to see if he could sell em.

Those are really nice. Nice to have the two different sizes too. Like Scotty said... bolt bin. I will never again take on a rebuild project without one.

I'm recently in need of something like that. Went to Kent a few weeks ago and they had this clearance thing going, $1-3 for a box of machine screws, etc. Week later picked up some door hinges, got to the checkout and they were 25 cents. Went back a week later and they were putting signs up 10 for $1. I got 40 boxes in all, best part was 7 boxes of stainless in different sizes, 3 boxes of 1/2" and 3/8" nuts. I was in a hurry, should have walked out of there with a couple hundred boxes. Paid $4 for a couple hundred dollars worth of fasteners.

Got back to this project as it is mindless and blows off steam. Well, if you call this mindless. Or insane. BA used the term 'obsessive' yesterday. I ignored her taunting and placed the slightly bent cotter pin with the flake of yellow paint from my '68 Monaco in the 'small' section of the cotter pin tray, to the left. Ah, the memories finding that cotter pin triggered. Huh, wha? Oh yeah... This costs $20 at PA. I bought 2, and I think i'll go back for more. (This is the contents of 1 box! $20) Hung the mounts on the back wall, and used some of the hooks and a few buckets. i'm not storing much on the wall, just a few things, but I like the tidy and colorful look. Gonna sort some bolts. Set up a production line. bunch of sizes written on the tape to help sort sorting messy pile is coming down, slowly.... I love this. The labels are on magnets, so you can move stuff around and not need new labels. Its rad. Still lots of boxes left, $20 each for one of those kits there. you get a ton for how cheap it is! So now i'll just pick at filling the rest, got the major organization done.

Jan, you are more than welcome to come over to my garage to do this when you're done with yours!!!! What an awesome job, I need to do this desperately to my garage!!! I already bought the bolt bins (bought them from '76jeep' on this board...thank you!!), just haven't got around to this tedious task of sorting my BUCKETS of bolts yet. I have 3, five gallon buckets FULL of misc bolts and fasteners. Great score on those kits from PA, those look sweet. So sweet that I'm stopping there today on my way home from work to buy 2 or 3!! Maybe seeing your pics and progress is the kick in the pants I need to get me going on this too! I'm on vacation this week, might have to pick up a case of beer and get sorting!! Great work, I'm super impressed. Gave me some good ideas.

I too am mega envious... Garage organization is rough when there are 2 or 3 people using it on a semi-regular basis... I too have the "buckets of bolts" method of organization going on... The nails and screws I somehow manage to keep sorted half decently...
Looks great!

I went and picked up 2 of those PA kits at lunch! Jan is very inspiring for shop organizing. I wouldn't say obsessive though LOL

Thx guys!
Dewie - I learned this stuff at work, where there are a dozen guys into the tools and parts in the course of a week. We do '5S' sort, straighten, shine...and some other ones. i dunno. the result is organization that can last thru a bunch of people picking at it. Once its setup, you are being unproductive not to continue with it, and it shows. Makes 'em guilty, or it makes it so easy to stay organized, they buy-in to the new way to work.
Good luck!
