looks great with the exception of the chrome eyeballz and stainless kickpanel. all olive and chrome don't mix.

From what I have been told it is a pain in the ass to have anything stick to it... The bezels will be green when I get around to doing them... no where near done with all the details...have to get rid of those aweful white wheels too... just glad the blue/yellow is gone

Little update: Drove the jeep home from Rod's today... The carb seems to be completly sorted out now... seems to like 3000-3500 rpm. Think the combiation of carb cleaner and a few longer drives got the kinks worked out from sitting... Put some flat white primer lettering on today... as indicated in a previous post... I test fit the clutch master and slave cylinder today... there is lots of room for both... I am hoping to have Ray do the install...after xmas. Would like a few opinions on this: Basically it is 1/4 plate bent to the shape of the oil pan then siliconed in place. Is it worth doing? seems like a simple mod for extra protection...?? this is a link to the full write up www.offroaders.com/info/tech-corner/project-cj7/oil-pan-skid.htm

Well, the idea of the skid is sound, but steel pan + paint+ steel plate will never stick. 1 hit, it falls off and you're skidless for the whole trail. Welding sheetmetal is not -that- hard, especially with a bunch of good rossette welds from behind to reinforce it. but Ithink the design is good. similar to the one Toyoda installed on my motor from the factory

heres my solution to the skid. I removed a factory skid installed on the pan on my 88 YJ 4.2L that was pinch welded. drilled out a few welds to release it from the old leaking pan. I then took the new pan, skuffed the paint, degreased it, then applied a thick coating of urethane adhesive from a caulking gun to glue it on. make sure to try to "caulk" the edges so no sticks have a groove to catch on. the key is to use urethane like the stuff they use in car window seals.............. worked for me and i know i hit mine more than once

Thanks for the confirmation that it works locally. Everything works in the south with no salt/snow

And lastly... I took a pic of the CJ5... no progress on it... but I felt bad for it just sitting there What? I figured with all the fiberglass and painting experience you gained you'd have the body for the 5 done by now Paul
