Can anyone here get the bungs you weld in to make tie rods or drag links? Idea is you cut your DOM tubing to length, and weld in the bungs. Then you just thread in your TRE's, and use back-up nuts to hold em where you set them. Something like this www.polyperformance.com/shop/product.php?productid=349&cat=98&page=1Can I get them around here? Rob D

I don't think that would pass inspection. Why not thread the pipe?

Weld isn't legal on steering components here.
What thread size are you looking for?
Only TRE thread size I see there is 7/8-18, common 1 ton size.

Fair enough. All the americans are doing it, lol.
Ok, I was thinking on keeping the stock TRE's. I'm actually not sure what the stock size and thread pitch would be.

11/16-18, I have the taps.
1" OD DOM tube with a 1/4" wall could be drilled and tapped for the stock TRE's.

That would be great, since I have the tube, and you have the taps. Too bad for the distance, lol. I may see if a machine shop will thread the tube for a reasonable price. I would like to purchase the correct taps, but I have a feeling that LH tap isn't cheap.

Both are special taps, LH one is twice the price of RH one.
It's not expensive at all to have things shipped down here, probably much cheaper to send it to me and have it done then have a shop thread them on a lathe.
