I have a question for anyone who would know. When I bought the 94 XJ the guy who I bought it from said he was having problems with starting it. He said after changing the starter out and eventually installing a by pass switch to the selinoid he found out that the problem was that a switch in the shifter was not working correctly and that was the reason it wouldn't start properly. Well now the darn thing won't turn over unless I boost it. It is almost as if there is no power. I should mention that the battery power is full and when it is started there is a full charge. Anyone know if this is so that a faulty switch in the shifter can prevent it from starting?

There is a shifter position sensor/switch that only allows it to start in either park or in neutral. i had this problem in my dakota, had to jiggle the shifter to get it to start, this is fairly common.

The switch is in the trans on the AW4, not in the shifter. If it was the neutral safety switch, boosting it wouldn't make any difference. You must have bad connections again!
