Looking at upgrading my week Dana 30 to 60s or at least a 44. Buying a bolt on is too expensive. Anyone know what vehicles I could grab these axles without costing to much or have to much Fab work. Still want the abs and traction to work. Any info would greatly be appreciated

Abs and traction are gonna be the hard thinks to get to work Gonna have to find d60's that have abs. That will the the easier of the two

If I can't keep the abs and traction its not a big deal Scotty. Gonna have to call some junk yards and see if any newer dodge trucks have been crashed

Other than getting a front 44 from a JK Rubi, there is nothing that won't take fab work.
To get what you want, best thing to do is build a 44. use a Ford high pinion 44 center with your current knuckles, hubs, brakes. Heavier tubes, gussets on the knuckles, and RCV or Alloy axles and you have a strong front axle.
Tracy (Peck Auto) and I will be building one soon. Tracy can give you a price on one, I know it will be a lot less that what's out there ready made, but you're still looking at a significant investment.

Thanks I looked on kijiji and didn't see much Scotty. I call coveys today for a Rubi 44 and was told they can't find any in Canada. Tell Tracy to shoot me a pm about price. National want 5200 for a pro rock 44 and it doesn't include axles or knuckles. I prefer to get 60s as I want to go to 39 or 40s after the long arm upgrade

Yeah seen a couple of rear d60 but no fronts. Might have to settle for front d44. That d30 has to go. There will be a d60 in rear at some point but got to do front first.

Wondering why you want to go so big? Planning to get into serious rock crawling? To go on trails that will challenge tires that big there is lots more you will need to do to your Jeep.
If you just want the tires for looks and don't plan on getting into the hard stuff, then 44's will be enough.

I plan on it turning it to a rock crawler eventually. It will be a couple years before she's to that point. Either way the d30 has to go and I have to start somewhere. One things forsure that this isn't a cheap hobby.

Dana 60 ford is what yer lookin for I have a 78 king pin and I have a newer ball joint one, how big of a tire do ya plan on running, cuse you'll want to keep ground clearance in mind , a 44 will hold a decent size tire with the proper mods

Sandboxcowboy had a 79 HP D60 for sale on the ford/ chev parts section, looks like it may be gone as the post is weird now. That was a good buy.
Remove any notions of this being cheap or particularly easy.

I'll have to check the ad out. Plan on going to 39 or 40 eventually. Plan is to lock front and rear and do a regear witch alloy axles. I'll prolly only run 37 for next year or two till I get rest of jeep built up and engine rebuilt. Don't want to waste money on a d30 so I have to do an axle swap. So why do it twice. Gonna need a 60 for a 39 or 40 tire

Won't be hard to sell a built 44 front when you are ready to go to 60's.
