Moving into a new place new month. Valley....yup, there goes the neighborhood! Brand new semi-detached house with single garage. We will be moving in middle of April. 7' door. My jeep will just fit in. Probably can't lift it any more. I see shelving, tool cart on wheels, sturdy bench... and a small beverage fridge. ;D ;D

This place has a heat pump. (high on the wall on the left) The builder says it's good for -10 and below that maybe put the electric heat on. It also does cold a/c which is nice! Remote to control it. It is my first place that had a garage so I'm really happy about it. Automotive work will be at my convenience now. And keeping the Jeep inside will means less rust. It's not a huge garage but good enough.

Congrats as well, looks like a great spot to get some wrenching done on the jeep, and a nice spot for spare parts lol

You will love the ductless split....mine throws decent heat down to about -15, still heats when it's colder but looses most of its efficiency!

my tenant loves the mini split, he says its fine, there is no other heat source. He was gone away in Jan. tho. lol
I'm not even noticing it on the power bill, but the oil bill is down a lot. Should be very economical for you.

Thanks guys. We were at the location today and the heatpump is an LG unit...didn't get the model number but it being an LG, I'm going to say it's probably a good quality bit of gear. It's in Hantsport. That's as far as we could get from the city and still have a reasonable commute....my better half works in Dartmouth. My route is all over the western end of the province so it's a good location for me. I'll be bombing through the chester road to get to the south shore.
I have some good shelving, small fridge and a bench for the workspace already. Might probably buy one of those work carts like Scott has as well. Being short on room, mobility is important.

Hantsport is a great spot, and not a bad commute into the city.

Well there isn't "tons" of room but enough to work in. There is this much or more space all around. 8 inches of clearance getting the Jeep in the door. 3 feet to the ceiling when the door is closed. Three power outlets on the walls. I have shelving and a good bench that will fit in the space. I took a small fridge up tonight so that is sorted. I guess the main thing, lacking tons of space, is that I can leave a project unfinished and come back another day.

BTW, Scott.... that's the eastlink router on the wall. Garage has the internet/tv/phone hookups right there on the wall. The rest of the house has ethernet/tv/phone jacks in all the rooms, wired from here through the walls.

Not sure what your lease says, but a couple of years ago a couple buddy's of mine rented a similiar kinda place and put thier atv's in the garage, one day the neighbor saw them working on them in the garage . The next thing they knew the landlord was beating on their door saying the other tenants were complaining about the smell of oil and gas ,He also pointed out that it wasn't a garage ,but a storage shed .....fyi Have fun with your new storage shed .
