I have been having some electrical and starting problems. Lately the XJ has been hard to start. There doesn't seem to be any power. The starter winds up and dies out, winds up and dies out decreasing in power. But a boost gets it going right away. Sounds like a dying battery right? Thats what I thought but the battery has a full 12 volt charge and the alternator is charging at 14 volts. I pulled the codes and and I got these: 12 - Battery input to PCM disconnected during last 50 key starts. This should not be here anymore because the battery hasn't been disconnected since it was at APJ's and that was 3 months ago. Have done way more than 50 starts since then. 41 - Fault in the charging system or no field current. Not sure about this one??... I have an alarm/auto start system that was disconnected a bit when I had the whole steering column replaced with the one off the 92 XJ. The alarm still works but siren disconnected and the auto start isn't connected to new ignition. Anyone know why I could be still getting these codes or know if not having my auto start system fully hooked up could cause my power/starting problem?

the first one would make me think battery cables or connections.
the batt. lugs can be cracked, but you can't see it. post a pic of your battery so we can make fun of your lugs. ;D

Showing 12 volts doesn't always mean a battery is good. You need to get it load tested. The code 12 would come up every time the voltage get below a certain point, not just when the battery is disconnected.
If the battery is bad, it could be what's causing the code 41 too. First thing to do is to get that battery checked and go from there.

My battery cables were replaced the last time that I had it at APJ's. Though I haven't had the battery load tested yet. Could having my auto start half connected be a possible cause? Anyone know about these systems?
I am also having problems blowing the fuse to the blower motor. Well actually they are not blow, the centre piece is still connected but one of the "teeth" are cooked. The plastic is a little scorched and the metal "tooth" is brittle and breaks with ease. I seem to be going through a fuse every week. Probably is the motor itself causing the problem but I just wanted to get confirmation.

Yes, it's the motor. They sometimes get hard to turn when they get old and it draws too much current.
