Nice work... I like how high the tranny is despite how tall it is. Nothing below the bottom of the frame rail. Nice work. I've got to expect that moving the body back makes things much nicer, even if it does cause the shifter tower to be hidden. That tiller solution seems like it should work nicely. Will you need to make any changes to the header output flange? Looks close, but may be enough room.

Thanks for the comments Bill . When I moved the body back I moved the drive train with it so the shifter is in the same spot it would have been . I now have the entire dash , steering column , etc sitting on the floor . still going with the tiller shifter I think . As for the flange its about 1/4" away from the frame and I,m not expecting much movement with those mounts .

Looking good!
I'm upset I won't have a jeep when this is done (hopefully I'm wrong).
Either way I'd love to see it in action again!

As I had said earlier , he floor is done and I cut the gas filler tube out of the passenger side and welded in the drivers side . Then I threw down a couple of coats of bed liner . new transmission tunnel reshaped for the Dana 300 this rear floor is from the bed of a S10 the box under the pedals is to make room for the clutch fork

well , the drive train is in place for the last time I hope . Had a few hiccups , the flywheel that came with the transmission turned out to be pre 87 and had the larger bolt pattern so I had to buy a new one . Also , I found out that GM changed the back of their crankshafts after 2001 so the engine I now have wasn't machined for a manual transmission . Here is a crank in an older engine My 2010 eng so after looking it over , I went to the machine shop in town with an idea and they made this for me some time in the freezer and I drove it in the new flywheel at home new pilot bushing clutch and pressure plate 2010 engine looking like a 1997 . my computer and harness is for the 97 so I swapped everything but got rid of the poppet valves at the same time by changing the SCFI over to MFI from the newer engine . After 2002 these engines have 6 injectors instead of just one . one change from the 97 was to get rid of the EGR valve . so I made this all bolted together in its new home body is back in place and all bolted up just set the seats in to see how they fit . looks OK all for now

Nothing wrong with your solution to the pilot bushing problem. Seem some factory bushings come with the same type of spacer.

Back at the Samurai , Took the reminder on the fenders off and found more rot . repaired it and extended the rockers for the front stretch Also started on the hood .cleaned the edge going to stretch it 9 inches then drilled out the spot welds removed the rear brace and hinge support bought two of these at PA , just happen to be 9 inches cut them up and welded them to the back of the hood back at it tomorrow .
