Been doing some research but what have people done here ?
GasTank skid - keep stock, replace or reinforce the existing one
Exhaust skid ? (Cat as well ?}
Tcase and tranny ?
Engine (basepan) ?
Control arms - skids or reinforce existing ?
Diff covers or skids ?
Swaybar skid ?
Fuel tank breather - needs a skid ?
Evap. skid plate ?
Anyone make their own ?
The idea is to keep it stock, beef up what needs to be and wheel every trail there is. Will a winch fit into the stock bumper ?

The idea is to keep it stock, beef up what needs to be and wheel every trail there is. Will a winch fit into the stock bumper ? Keep the stock gas tank skid, even though mine is all dented up it never faild me for what it is supposed to do. Exhaust, don't bother. Once again, mine had a few dents and just kept on going/ Tranny skid. have the stock one for the auto and seems to work well. Engine, oil pan skid is a must. I have no protection on my control arms and they have taken some hard hits. Makes me wonder if it is a marketing ploy just to sell them to people Mine have held up well with no protection, Swaybar skid? .I have none on the rear, and the front is always disconnected and up out of the way. Fuel tank breather? I never heard of it, so therefore I don't run one. Evap. skid is a definate yes. the cost of that skid plate is about the same as replacing the evap. Some people make there own, depends on if you have the gear to do it, along with the knowledge. As far as I know you cannot mount a winch on a stock bumper without doing some modifications.. Every trail, wow, thats alot, and a big challenge with a stock looking jeep.

I agree for the most part. If I had the choice to start again, I would reinforce my gastank skid right away. Mine also has not failed me yet but it is in real bad shape. I'm going to try to bang it out and reinforce it, just hope its not too far gone. I also built lower control arm mount skids for the front....both of mine were getting bent, one quite badly.

I took off my factory gas skid and ran steel flatbar along the length of it in a few placesthen bolted it back up in
