yes and if it's easy , why wooden he fix it when it was there or fix it himself before selling it I'm calling BS on the loose bolts

Trans is toast is my guess, and he is trying to pass it off as a simple fix.

Loose torque converter bolts are a very distinctive sound, almost like the connecting rods are coming through the side. It is a simple fix by itself, but if he drove it for awhile, the flex plate and torque converter may need to be replaced, meaning pulling the trans.
Either way, it does sound funny though. And a lot of money for an '02 with a problem.
