Why not get it directly from R/C ? I looked at a few things and sometimes its just as easy to go to the source, unless there is a sale or you have a personal discount etc.

Local support for warranty issues. A lot of times the prices local are better than what you have to pay by the time you ship from the company across the border.

I do agree with your points about local business and warranty certainly for most of the stuff we can get for our jeeps, and yes shipping can kill the "online savings". I bought my tires in sackville and got them mounted at CVO, allignment done through CVO, il change etc since I was there, if you buy a lift kit direct, you will still be supporting one way or another, But I have dealt with R/C about warranty issues and they are awesome they back their lifetime warranty no need to go through a dealer, you can still support local business 90% of the time, but I still do my shopping before buying. And I normally call the locals to see if they can match if I find cheaper elswehere to give them the chance to get my business. Guess my original post was too broad and vague.

Probably the biggest and best reason to buy local (Pecks, APJ, and CVO) is that they are big supporters and sponsors of the NSJC. Sometimes I think, we are so caught up in the WalMart world of saving a buck that we forget that our local businesses are part of our community and Jeepers as well. When we assume that we're further ahead by ordering online than shopping local, every penny (sorry, every nickel) leaves our community and erodes the local economy. When I started my own business over 25 years ago, I was told that most small businesses that fail, wouldn't have if they only had an extra $500 per month cash flow. Buying local is one of the best contributions you can make to your community. There, Rant Over.

RC will sell to the general public, but shipping and brokerage will make you pay alot more than buying from our vendors here. Peck's will ship to Dartmouth for no extra cost, at least I haven't had any extra cost to.

I love saving a buck as much as the next guy but I will always choose to pay a few extra bucks and help a small business rather than ordering online. In fact, paid $75 more than I would online to order a rough country 4" lift. I got it through Pecks.. Paid $575 and i could have got it at the same time (he has to wait for it to come in) online and paid $499. I feel much better know I am supporting a Scotian company and not having some out of country company cut them out.

If you had ordered directly from Rough Country, that $499 is US dollars, plus you would be covering the shipping of it to your door. You would also be paying brokerage fees on top of that, making it more expensive in the end than ordering through Peck's. So in supporting one of our "local" shops you probably saved some money over ordering directly from RC online.
