My 98TJ Sport with 2" coil spacers and zj coils in the from to get rid of the sag, and 305 70 16 KM 2's... The body mounts need to be replaced, probably gonna tackle it early spring. Looking for some opinions, if I am going to replace them should I put in a small 1" or 1 1/4" body lift for a bit of added clearance, or just replace the body mounts and do some cutting on the fender wells for some extra clearance. I don't want too much more lift but could use a bit more wheel travel...

Most body lifts add onto your existing body mounts, so you should look for one that replaces them. Daystar makes a nice 1 1/4" body lift. It replaces the mounts, and all you need to reuse are the sleeves. I put it on my YJ years and years ago with no issues. TJ version should be very similar.

Looks good like that. I'd just do a bit of trimming, not a fan of body lifts. If you are re-doing the body mounts, like the actual steel mounts on the frame, you can weld them on higher. You'll still need a couple spacers made for under the grill and the rear crossmember, etc.

Thanks for the input on the mounts. I have read/ heard a few different opinions on how much trimming you can do before you hit the seem of the wheel well. Wondering if anyone has done this recently and can remember how much they trimmed, if they made a template to cut by/ or just went freehand? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

However, an extra inch will help with clearances, and make the future CPS sensor replacement, that much easier. If you are replacing the rubber mounts anyways, I'd go for the 1"ish lift, and then with a little trimming, you will have lots of tire clearance. Rob D

yes keep it low as you can do a 1 or 1 1/4 body lift, flat belly skid or belly up skid and cut / move the fenders up or metalcloak tube fenders

If you are thinking body lift... Start spraying all the bolts NOW ! Take your time remove bolts before the job so you will know ahead of time if you are gonna have problems. Use tons of grease and rust check .
I like my 1.25 energy suspension body lift from Pecks.
I installed a MORE steering shaft suppot lift to remove a dead spot in steering. Also installed a Novak tcase shifter cable to make tings smoother shifts .
Good luck to you and you jeep.
