I would not say it was overrated for a tj,lens 12000lb waren winch couldnt move my tj. BUT..not the one your siting on.. Our suppliers/sponsors can get you a good 8000lb winch for about the same price, with beter warrenty and a beter service history. You get what you pay for and it pays to support sponsors. I can guarntee PA wont help find parts or rush you in when you need a repair. Da Dogg

True that. I think I would have broken you free, but I was sliding towards you at the same time, definately needed an anchor. You were frozen in there good. Popping you out was the better way to go. Same as me, Dougie, and Jeff did for Eepgoo there a few years back.

I have this winch on my Samurai so it wouldn't be overkill on a TJ . By the way , its the exact same winch as their 8000lb but with thicker cable .

8000# is minimum. 10K is in the middle, and 12K does the trick pretty much every time. I run 12K on my LJ. Looks like a good deal. It has the sealed solenoid box that is starting to be used on all the winches. Seems like a good upgrade. I've got the sealed unit on my rockbuggy, but only used the winch a few times. Not enough hours on it yet to make a reliability judgement. 10K specs: Single Rated Line Pull 10,000 lb Gear Ratio 235:1 Cable Size 3/8 in. x 85 ft Motor HP 5.1 HP Motor Amp Draw @ Full Load 350 A ft/min The 8500#: Single Rated Line Pull 8,500 lb Gear Ratio 235:1 Cable Size 5/16 in. x 94 ft Motor HP 4.5 HP Motor Amp Draw @ Full Load 320 A The 10K has a bigger motor and bigger cable.

I can guarntee PA wont help find parts or rush you in when you need a repair. Da Dogg PA would just give you another brand-new winch off the shelf, during their business hours which go till 9pm and open till 5pm on Sundays. How is local's warranty better? Honest question. To 'shop local', for your Chinese manufactured winch, you only gain a warm and fuzzy feeling. You deal with your friends and support their business. It does not automatically make their competitors a bad place to buy. Their corporate competitors do NOT have 'bad service' (there is no service on winches) or a shitty warranty, they replace the whole thing. They are on par, or usually better on pricing because of their big buying/shipping power, and holiday sales. I get a kick out of the 'buy local' mantra for Chinese parts. Its double-speak. In buying Chinese parts, we wrecked our manufacturing industries, our economy suffers, we accept lower quality items as 'just the way it is'. But we feel warm and fuzzy because local JohnnyVendor got a 2% cut at the end of it all. The vast majority of consumers will pay no more the the minimum for any item = vendors having to carry shitty parts to get business. If we lived the 'buy local' mantra, half the people on here would be working their farm/woods, and the other half would be making stuff/providing services to support those industries.

I wish more people lived the real "buy local" way. I've been game for it for years. a buddy who I used to work with is soon opening his own slaughter house and meat shop for the local farms here to supply. He is only one guy, but he has all of the local communities' support. maybe it will be the bump we need to get more local businesses going again.

The 10K has a bigger motor and bigger cable. Thanks for looking that up, it's getting harder and harder to disguise my lackadaisical qualities.

Look at every body of every winch. All the same drum stand casting. Motor and gear sets change, many look identical.
