Anyone have a contractor that builds garages they'd recommend. We are outside Stewiacke so we likely could use HRM or Truro based ones. Looking for a rough quote to give us an idea what we'd spend to build something similar to this: www.thegarageplanshop.com/028g-0052.phpWe'd be looking at not having the RV bay drive thru and have the back flush and push the front out further. That way we could extend the back of the roof to create a covered "car port" like area to store tractor implements out of the rain and sun.

That's very similar to a design I did 5 or 6 years ago for a client in Ontario. We put the stairs along the side to reduce the span of the floor system. Without having a beam and posts, the heaviest duty 16" open web floor truss will only give you a 27' clear span (at 16"o/c).

i work as a estimator for a home install division working out of a home hardware building center here in the annapolis valley, check out this site: www.homehardware.ca/en/index/home-projects/backyard-projects/garages/rv-garages/rv-garage-30-x-36.htmwe employee our own carpenters and would build this on site for $39,700.00 plus tax. Thats a roof tight package with a 4ft frost wall foundation, 4" poured floor, 2x6 framing, vinyl siding and one piece laminate shingles, does not include excavation, perimeter drainage, electrical, interior finish or trim, and no electrical garage doors openers. We dont travel as far away as you, so we cant come built this project for you, but atleast gives you some insight as to what to aspect from someone local.

I wasn't too worried about the post between the small bays and large bay as we plan to use the small ones as parking and do all my work/tinkering in the large bay. But if moving things a bit gives a larger open floor plan then it might be worth taking a look!

Well that is a good to know even if we can't use your builders. We were discussing going with metal roof and siding since we have a windy property and shingles don't hold up over time. Although that's something I feel I can do myself it's more the slab and framing and clading the roof and walls.

I do alot of construction work after hours and i can tell you if your handy enough and have some friends, you should be able to put that garage up ive quoted you for around 30% less

I built my garage 4 years ago. I bought almost everything from stewiacke home hardware. It's a 40x50 16" ceiling. 100% finished was 48 grand. A lot more work than I ever thought it would be, But love it.
