Hi everyone, Im looking for some info on swapping in a 5 speed trans into my 05 tj 4cly 6 speed. 3rd and 4th gears have failed and tracking down a trans isnt happening. Has anyone swaped in a 5 speed form a different year? or is it even possible? Any help will be greatly appriciated.
Thanks Pierce

Seems like it should be fairly straightforward...it's the same motor and same t-case so spline counts would be the same.

I know the splines and t-case are the same. But will it all bolt up. Would I have to change the slave or clutch?

You have to find a 5 spd from a 2.4 only , the 2.5 trans bell housing has a different bolt pattern then the 2.4 The 6 spd does not have a removable bell housing , so no reusing that for your 5 spd swap . Best bet is to cross reference the slave over at rock auto , reuse your clutch Also your CPS is located on the engine , not the bell housing as it was on earlier years Have a look over on a site called LOL 4banger.com , its the site thats not porn Its dedicated to 4 cyl jeeps , you have to register to post
