I have a 2012 jku with a 3.6 litre engine that has suddenly started to have spurts of rough idling and once while driving. Anyone else have this happen? Yes it is under warranty but I like getting as much info as I can before taking it in. It has not thrown any codes yet.

My moms 3.8 did the same thing it was the 6th plug wire, where the wire runs it was rubbing on something and had a pin hole causing it to run rough untel you put load on itand got it past its rough spot.

Don't believe it to be a tune up problem, less than 50,000 km. But I will check the wires to see if anything is rubbing.

My 07 Ram did that too, and turned out to be a bad oxygen sensor. It had less than 40,000kms on it at the time too.

Hey Don, after you do the plug wires in the 3.6, you can do the ones on my Cummins. It won't cost much for parts, its mostly just labor.

I think I might do my spray bottle test on the wires. Dud that on my cutlass till I found one wire that would cause a drop/rough idle everytime I sprayed it.

Neither did mine, except the CEL was flashing when it was having a coughing fit one day... I'm gonna wait till it gets worse and then take it in. Still over 50k on warranty. Kinda feels like when the head gasket was starting to go on our 97 Chevy venture.

There aren't any plug wires on 3.6 or diesels. Just carrying on!

Really never knew they had no wires which is unusual for me because usually that's they first thing I do is open the hood and stare when I buy vehicle (truth) If it continues I will post up and if i find out I will let others know. Just incase it turns out to be a common problem. If anyone needs me I will be staring at my engine compartment Donnie

For some reason this thread made me Google common problems with the 3.6. All I can say is in never buying one after that. Although having warranty must be nice, drive er till she blows hah.
