Looking to upgraded the alternator in my son's 2003 libby with a 3.7 litre engine. When winching the alternator can't keep up with demand.

you likely have a 132amp alternator now on it . that's way bigger than the 75 that came on my tj stock and if add a 160amp one, you will not see any gain Because the alternator on the libby is controlled by the PCM .You will need to have the PCM reprogrammed. For a bigger one. I think thats how it is.. maybe time to put a better battery in it or maybe dual batterys

When my battery was on it's last day, I was winching a car out of the ditch, and since it couldn't keep up with the draw, my Jeep stalled out. Had to get a boost, and then off to Costco it was for a new battery ...
