I hit twice, one was the oilpan skid and the second was around the rock ledge in that off camber spot by the brook. I have certainly been aware of picking the best lines in mine. Every trail offers a challenge and it's never boring when you only have a 2" lift and running 32s.

just wondering if you ever figured out what was the cause of your death wobble ?

No I have not got to the root cause yet. Since I have the shimmy shock going from the upper part of the track bar to the lower part of the drag link I have not had any issues with DW. She drives absolutely perfect at any speed over any terrain. Love the WJ as a daily driver and I am having fun with it as a mild off-road rig as well.

glad to hear you you got it fixed, even if it is temporary. I had a slight shimmy in the steering this summer nothing near death wobble. but a new ss cleared it up. I Haven't been out as much as I would like since we moved. still getting an idea where the trails are.

I haven't been doing a lot with the jeep as of late, but I have finally got around to upgrading a few things on the WJ before Jam gets here. First I had a rusty front tie rod bar so I picked up another stock bar and also some 1 1/4" Schedule 40 pipe. I slipped the schedule 40 pipe over the tie rod bar and welded the ends. The schedule 40 1 1/4" pipe has an ID of 1.380" which was exactly what the OD of the WJ tie rod bar was. A little rust check between them the help the process along and it turned out great with that little extra thickness to help off road. One end welded... I also asked Jan (Creepy) to build me a set of rock rails that can be welded to the 2x6" rock slides I had Scottie build for my rig. I think they turned out awesome Jan! My welding is not the best when the material is not right up in front of me with perfect lighting. laying on my back under the jeep welding these on sucked lol! Doesn't matter too much as to me they look wicked! I now have them primed and painted with black bed liner. Now looking into a better way to make disconnects for the front. Aaron

As I have been wheeling the WJ for about a year now and I really thought I new exactly what I wanted to do with this jeep since I already had a TJ. I have finally realized that a WJ is nowhere near a TJ for comparison. The TJ could be lower and flexy without dragging its belly over everything if you did the tummy tuck, etc... The WJ is just a long, wide low and comfortable rig! I had enough of the 2" coil spacers and sacked stock coils which bottomed out constantly driving on our fine NS roads. I went ahead and purchased a 4" BDS lift kit to gain some much needed ground clearance. Here is the front all completed... Here is how it sits now with the 4" BDS kit installed... On the way home from the Fall Colours run, taking the road over the mountain back home. Had to stop and check the flex... After wheeling it on Horse Pasture for the Fall Colours run, what a difference! So much more enjoyable when you are not smashing the tranny skid on every pebble on the trail. Was able to take a few harder lines that I just couldn't even attempt with the old setup. On road manners are great. Can't wait to get out wheeling again soon! Aaron

Oh yeah, just one last bit of info... I took measurements with the 2" coil spacers in and then again with the 4" BDS kit installed.
With 2" Coil Spacers and stock coils - Bottom of Tranny Skid to floor = 11" - Top of front tire to bottom of fender opening = 5.75" - Top of rear tire to bottom of fender opening = 4.25" - Front of rock slide to ground = 16" - Rear of rock slide to ground = 16.5"
With 4" BDS Kit installed - Bottom of Tranny Skid to floor = 14" - Top of front tire to bottom of fender opening = 8.75" - Top of rear tire to bottom of fender opening = 7.375" - Front of rock slide to ground = 19" - Rear of rock slide to ground = 19.5"
Looks like adding the 4" BDS kit gave me 3 more inches of lift over the 2" coil spacers. My factory coils were sacked!

Well this weekend I went ahead and removed the 247 Quadra-Drive (AWD) transfer case from the WJ and stuffed in a 242 Select-Trac from a 2002 WJ. This was due to the clutches in the 247 being shot and it basically had no AWD anymore. 4L still worked fine but with no AWD the snowy and slushy roads were tricky to drive as the WJ was only rear wheel drive without the clutches working properly.
I had to break down both tcases so that I could swap input shafts. Also had to use the v6 slip yoke off the driveshaft and put it on my v8 drive shaft. Takes the same u-joint but gives me the needed smaller over-all measurement so I had some slip. With the v8 yoke it was 1.5" longer and bottomed out. With the tcase cable I had to remove it from the mount and since there are two holes in the mount, the original location was the upper hole and I just had to relocate it to the lower mounting hole for the shifter to line up properly.
I even had the replacement bezel for my 4WD shifter.
Ready for the snow storm today so I can test out the 4H on the roads.

No James, mine is the 4.7 Limited and I couldn't find a 242HD, more scarce then the 242LD from the 4L. From my research these 242LD will be plenty strong behind my 4.7.

Having 4H yesterday was awesome. Worked perfect except I know I need to replace the centering ball in the front driveshaft.

The FT 4x4 on the 242 works great.
