Reviving a sorta old thread here, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY you can do a Hemi swap for 6 grand. It will be 10 at the absolute minimum. Depending on where you get your engine from, you'll need exhaust manifolds, plus a truck gas pedal. Don't forget custom exhaust, and all the money you'll spend diagnosing all the little issues you WILL have once it's back together. AND a ton of other little 25-100 dollar parts that you didn't account for. Also, where are you getting your numbers for the Hemi and Getrag? Don't forget flywheel and clutch assembly. And new front springs to account for the extra weight of the Hemi (considerably heavier than the 3.8). It is a very slippery slope that does not end at $6,000. I cry a little on the inside every single time I step on the gas pedal (well, more of a position sensor that sends an electronic signal to the ECU telling it how much fuel I think should be dumped into the engine, which then decides how much fuel IT thinks should actually go in, then sends a signal to the injectors). I would LOVE a Hemi or LS swap too, but the reality is that it just makes more sense to sell the one you have and get a 2012+ with the Pentastar.

I'll jump into this. Frankly the 3.8 sucks unless you get the rpms up over 3000 before you start getting torque. I regeared mine with 4.88, fully locked in the rear with a Detroit locker, set my superchips on performance and from a red light and I will lift the front tire and cruise with the young kids in their cars. At 140km it still pulled, but with 6.5" of lift and 35" tires that's fast enough for me. Made due with what I have, and on the trail personally its all about crawling. I'm not just saying that either just because I have rebuilt the front end twice either . lol

I've done hemi and ls swapps and depending on what you want for options (cruse tap shift exct) i would think nothing less than 10k in parts and programing but everything works including emission legal

Gas mileage goes up with RIPP not down with a v8 swap lol. I almost bought one, but I just bought a turbo integra for the same money and have both worlds.

I've done a few superchargers on the 3.8 ripp and sprintex they both work well but not a v8 3.6 panty starr is way better then 3.8 but not even close to v8 it all comes down to budget (and cool factor) not sure if i agree with supercharging an already weak engine (but just my opinion )

If a person were to supercharge the 3.8 anyway, what is the maximum boost you would put on it? How much boost do you think a stock 4 litre would safely take? without intercooling and with? Thanks.

I would go with the RIPP Supercharger. You won't have the power of the HEMI, but you'll have a lot more power and torque than you do now.

Talk to Glen Comeau about V8 swaps. He's got the info you need.

i honestly don't remember the boost numbers on the 3.8 i do know the ripp seems to give better low end and less noise of the ones I've used as for a 4.0 the only customer ive had who was serious about going with a supercharger went with a 5.7 hemi

Boost numbers on the 3.8 are low, like 5-6 pounds. That's really all that is considered safe on them.
