So im loven the jk rubi . Tcase and lockers are great and the room over the 2 door imo is da bomb. BUT...no power... So im reading about a 5.7l hemi swap. Have read about a diesel swap. Also saw posts of a chevy v8 swap (didnt research it) So im considering this. Threads say $5-6000.00. Thats a lota dough... Anyone do this? Suggestions? prices? Offers to help or finance...lol And finally thoughts. Da Dogg

Sell the Rubi and buy an 05-10 Grand Cherokee with the Hemi and QuadraDrive II or an 06-08 with the 3.0 diesel

More power = More broken parts and axles.

I'd say at least 5 grand, not including donor motor cost. And the most stuff you want to work together (sensors, dash, etc) then it keeps getting more pricey.
By far the easiest and best bang for buck would be carbed Chevy V8 or standalone EFI (for an LS, for example), but that sacrifices having a functioning dash, which I could care less about but you might.
A plug and play Hemi swap with everything functioning normally will be all of 10 grand, motor not included.
Or sell the 2008 and get a 2012+ instead, I find that motor has quite a bit more power than the 3.8. Not Hemi power, but it's decent.

I will be more than happy to trade you my 2.5l for your 3.8l . And than we can talk no power lol
I would say it's Best to re gear it, and do a little hot rodding and live with it

I only know of one Hemi JK in Atlantic Canada so far, in Tracadie NB, and it cost him $15K to do the swap.

You could all ways swap in a 260-hp 4.0 L V6 out of a dodge R/T Nitro. I had one for a year or so. It's just a bored out 3.5l-3.8l

My solution was a turbo integra and my dirty 3.8. One alone don't keep me happy.

Re-gear it ! You don't want the hassle of a one off engine swap

You're not allowed to complain about the power now. You was warned several times that you would not be happy and you bought it anyway.
Smartest suggestion so far is to turn it over and get a 2012 or newer with the Penstar engine. I have one in my work van and there is NO lack of power there, for sure.

Knowing how you like your skinny pedal in the woods I would suggest replacing the axles too. Otherwise first time out with that torque and you will be wishing you had a lack of power.I would also suggest adding approx $600-$1000 for larger rad. As far as the gauges go temp/oil pressure will be fine but for the tach and/or speedo you might want to check out Dakota Digital, they make conversion boxes to output the correct signal for your speedo/cruise control & tach, each is roughly $85 US. Or if money is no object buy their whole replacement gauge pkg for approx $1100.
As far as engines I just put in a LT1 in my YJ, completly stand alone. I modded the engine harness myself and have the programming and dianostic software for LT1's, if you go this route I can be of assistance. The LS1 is even easier to install but the software to reflash ECM is a lot more expensive and you are locked on how many ECM's you can flash (vin/serial number dependant.
All in truthfully you would be looking at $14K-$18K (with axle swap)once you add all the small stuff up. I still have the list of 95% of the items I had to purchase for the swap if you want to check it out.
I think you have seen my YJ, I was the one at Scot's that had to leave due to a family member in car accident.
PM me if you have any questions etc
