Well. after Looking around the Maritimes for about a year, I found this beauty locally! Named Christine, cause she already tried to kill me once... Ask to see my scar- I will show you! AMC 360 4bbl 4 speed.(Gonna upgrade the carb probably) She has pretty much everything I wanted to do for upgrades Needs mostly cosmetic work and the wiring is a rat's nest of a mess. - Also think I'm gonna upgrade to a HEI distributor and a S/S dash & new gauges - Put in a Hydraulic clutch maybe Feel free to throw some suggestions out too: (What would YOU do to her? Keep it clean)

Host your pictures on photo bucket and then use the links that photo bucket creates with each picture to copy it and then paste in your thread.

That's very nice. What transmission is in it? Hydraulic clutch is nice... but if the manual stuff is worn, replacement parts are available. Manual/simple is nice too. What's the current carb, and reason you want to change it?

Very nice! I have (had) the CJ5 twin to it. Same color and trim package. Its a rockbuggy now, but I did drive it on the road looking VERY similar to your new ride.
The 360/T18 combo was awesome in the woods.

Thanks! Not sure of the carb and transmission yet- I have to get under it with a good light and cleaner It's been many years since I worked on something with a carb. It looks like the stock one that came on the 70's AMC's (Motorcraft? I can't remember) I don't know the year of the engine either- Stock valve covers (with the id tag) are gone. For now I'm just gonna get it running. It has a hard start and rough idle when it's cold (probably choke) and not charging Clutch, I'll probably just need to get used to it- same thing- many years since I had a setup like this. Last time was a 74 javelin which I sold in the 90's Then to clean up the wiring, dash and gauges and get it all working again.

It's pretty bad- 30 years of cut/ splice / repeat I already have half of a Sobeys bag full of (useless)wires I pulled out... and I haven't started under the dash yet It had 2 starter solenoids, each only half wired up. Best guess was maybe a winch at some point. Plow gear maybe- some of it was tapped into the lights Park / signals were backwards Grille wasn't grounded. ..and I'm still under the hood- need to figure out that alternator plug and make it go again

Well you finally did it, sorry I sold mine. The JK doesn't hold a candle to it. Take pics of the shifter, should be a T-4, T-5, T-176 or if you are lucky a T-18 Trans, a D300, or D20 T-case. Looks like a D 30 widetrac front, and AMC 20 rear. Look into the "nutter bypass" for the computer, the HEI would help greatly, manual choke. Did you check all the fluids? The hydrolic clutch is a good idea, as the manual one tends to unhook, ask me how I know. The 4 cyl CJ's had them, hard to find, can get new. Grease everything , hubs also. I know you will be thorough going through it. She's a bute.

LOL thanks, Bud You can always visit this one on eves and weekends, Brad. You know, I still haven't got the #'s for trans and transfer case. I have to spend some time under it with a trouble light and a camera I've been too busy getting lost in the wiring. (I said I wouldn't too) -Man choke, yes, probably. -HEI, yes, probably. I don't know if the Nutter Bypass would be needed though- Nothing else for the computer to do is there? The Carter carb is gone.

I think the Nutter removes the computer from adjusting timing. I did it to mine.

I think the Nutter removes the computer from adjusting timing. I did it to mine. I can't remember- I did it to my YJ years ago. That was a 4.2 l with a carter 2 bbl. ...and I do remember having to play with the timing till it ran. This one has a 360 Computer is still there though. I can see me ripping all of that out (If I can)

Yeah, no wires to the carb. Anyone ever take all that computer junk out of a CJ? Is it linked to anything else? Gauges? Sensors?

i ripped all that shit out. There will still be the ECM tho. You can come look at mine sometime if you want. I have an 85 CJ7 4.2, and a 79 CJ5 360. Both run how the wiring is now, so you can see where stuff goes. Dartmouth.
