Probably the biggest and best reason to buy local (Pecks, APJ, and CVO) is that they are big supporters and sponsors of the NSJC. Sometimes I think, we are so caught up in the WalMart world of saving a buck that we forget that our local businesses are part of our community and Jeepers as well. When we assume that we're further ahead by ordering online than shopping local, every penny (sorry, every nickel) leaves our community and erodes the local economy. When I started my own business over 25 years ago, I was told that most small businesses that fail, wouldn't have if they only had an extra $500 per month cash flow. Buying local is one of the best contributions you can make to your community. There, Rant Over. Also totally agree. And by purchasing outside of the local distributors you are sending the message that you don't like the distributors in the area thus hurting their relationship with the manufacturer. The more business that goes direct the worse it looks for them and could affect their pricing down the road. Remember these local guys are employing Local people, not people in another country.

cool, I had an '81 bought new and sold it 12 years later - had already replaced half the frame, inner fenders and floor and back quarter panels - flipped it and broke the hardtop - it was an auto as well and ran perfectly to 250,000km

If you're going through water that deep you should think about a snorkle. Google JK and splashing water results in engine damage.
