Nice size for sure scott you will be happy with that! One side of mine I park the XJ in .The other is open for repairs on our DD and winter parking when expecting a storm or freezing rain (no chance of that sh#t today whew!).Sure is nice to pull out in morning for work and not have to scrap windshield. Anyways looking good man,you will spend alot of time in there all hours of the day,and a place to sleep if you get on the bad side of wife!

Whats the height of the walls? They are at least 10ft? I guess if you have a hoist in the future you need 14' right? Not sure on that. What size are the doors going to be? Steel or homemade batten style doors that open to the side out of way? My shop has 10ft ceilings and 9x8 steel doors with openers. My XJ just gets out now with 6.5 lift and tire rack! Oh its 24 x 28 with doors on gable end....

Wow! I can't beat that.I do have a similar cut to my arm happened a month ago with may 4.5 mini grinder with guard on.Cutting square tubing when it kicked back out of my hands and stuck me in the arm.6 stitches later.I now have no feeling between the cut and my wrist and doc said it may never come back.Use my grinder all the time and have since this happened but hold onto tighter for sure.We get too comfortable with them after awhile and forget the dangers....

Yeah, diffidently not saying that steel is on the way out.The price of rope is still way up there so many won't go that route for sometime.Just not much from the steel cable crowd weighing in? Thanks Creepy for getting a poll started.

Sounds like allot of you are into synthetic now.My XJ has not seen winter in 4 years at least. It spends that time in one side of my garage getting shit built for wheeling again in spring so the freezing isn't an issue.I do wheel allot in mud and rocks and fairly hard trials but it sounds like if you clean you rope often and do some regular maintenance to the winch it should survive quite well.Very impressed with the responses to this thread and thank you all. PS I see Rough Country has 3/8 x 85ft synthetic line for $219 U.S. seems like a bargain? What would new steel wire cost?

Probably been asked a gazillion times? Couldn't find anything on here! Soon buying a winch for the XJ and kinda leaning to synthetic line?I guess it's the weight factor making the front end lighter thats selling me on it!What do you guys think or what are your experiences with both?Pros and Cons?Been around lots with steel cable but not the other.Steer me in the best direction as far as what you guys prefer... Thanks......
