BACKGROUND Over the last year I have obtained a vast amount of information from the members of the Nova Scotia Jeep Club, and this forum. Having owned a XJ and YJ, (both have been sold) I'm now looking for a TJ. Because I want a 6 Cyl Automatic (no Green or Blue), and there are very few to chose from in the maritimes, I have been checking "Autotrader.Com" which is American. Having used the Zip code for Bangor Maine , you'll get over 200 TJ for sale just in that near by area.
What I would like is some info from someone who has purchase experience for jeeps/cars from the USA , and get some heads up advice.
If your answer is too long, Email me your Telephone Number and I'll call you.
Thanks #nosmileys

Can't help you out with info on duties or taxes, but I do know you have to have all the paperwork on the vehicle to customs 3 days before you plan to bring it across. If there are no problems with the title, it's pretty straight forward to do.
Once you get it here, you'll have to make it meet Canadian safty codes. On a TJ that should be just be daytime running lights.
Best thing to do is contact the Canada Customs Agency, they'll be able to tell you everything involved with the paperwork.

Actually, what sportsguy has provided should answer every question that you could possibly have, they provide alot of information. I looked into buying an american one as well (kinda liked the X on the side more than 'sport') Hope you find one soon Wendell

Thanks Guys - Alan - I though of and made a note about the daytime driving lights. The only thing else that I can think of inside is the child restraint strap or tie down. Do normal TJ have them.
Duane - Had a read and it sounds like I'm doing paper work similiar to adopting a child. Thanks for the web site.
Wendell - I don't understand the reference to "X" on the side.

Even if they dont have them (child tie down) you can usually go to a dealership and get them no problem .. they are very easy to install .... forgive me if im thinking the wrong thing but doesnt the actual tie down for child seats come with the childseat itself? mine did

Actually, i looked a little into it...for us, we can choose either the SE, Sport, Unlimited, RUBI, and now the Unlimited Rubi...but down there, they have the SE, "X", Sport, Unlimited, RUBI, and Unlimited Rubi... Alot of Jeeps that I have seen that are from the US, have an X where the Sport is usually located... Here's a pic of what I mean, cause i am starting to confuse myself Wendell
