Plate shouldn't be more than $50. You need a big hydraulic press brake to bent plate like that. Not too many small shops have something like that. That's why they can sell them for that much.
I could probably get some bent up for you. I can check and get a price for you. Could just weld 2 plates together too.

I believe the plate would distribute the load along the whole panel... this if it's in good shape should hold.... IF it's good LOL

Ya like Kristian said. Would distribute the load on all the screws and onto the rocker. I only have a 4-5in. long section that's caved in on my drivers side.

Could anyone do this for cheap around here? I can't see how they can charge that much for that kinda rock rail. Just have to have the equipment to bend the plate and buy the self-tapping screws. How much would that much plate be? I wanna do this to my jeep. Buy the metal from METAL "R" US and try DC FAB out on Lake Echo, ( Dexter POWER shop ) I'm sure Dave could fab something for a good price

those things are sketchy. they should have an extra 90deg at the bottom and tie into the pinch seam. as they are now, you will just bash in the seam, and the rocker will still bend under your new "cover" , i won't call it a skid.
hook it to the pinch seam!! then its a skid in my book.
look at the pic with the jack under the skid, they cut out a friggin space to fit the jack for the pic! haha. nice false advertising.

Didn't even notice that. Maybe they're not so good after all. And they still charge so much.

you miss the point. your still going to crush the pinch seam if you try to use a jack or use the rockers to pivot over a rock.

Like Jan said, bend the short 90 deg. firts then bend other way to shape to rocker. This will be where most of your strength comes from!! Even better if you can "hook" it to completely cover the pinch seam!

There's also the big ass dent you'll have in your side door from having the rig slip sideways and the Jack's main bar, crushing said door! I use my jack on the YJ cause I don't have doors to care about! I've seen some serious dents because people didn't believe what they were told.
