Didn't get much done tonight, had to come home and fix my jet pump as the pressure switch went on it. But still managed to get the timing cover and water pump painted, got the timing gears, chain, fuel pump eccentric (not that I need it anymore) and distributor gear on. Will get timing cover finished and bolted on tomorrow night, will have the oil pump rebuilt. Hopefully be able to run the pump and make sure that the valley line doesn't leak and that oil is getting everywhere it should. Then the intake etc can bolt up. Bulltear has some nice parts for the AMC v8. They have a nickle plated timing chain cover that lasts longer due to the added hardness of the cover. They also have a mid-plate you can buy that bolts in between the filter adapter and the cover, that way if your adapter is scored you can just use the plate sandwiched in there. They have an extra capacity oil pan. They have a dual remote oil filter kit. They have an oil cooler kit. And they are currently working on a billet aluminum timing chain cover that has a removable oil pump and a separate cover so that cam changes will not require a timing cover removal! I think I may end up ordering a few parts from them to see how it goes. Maybe sumpin like this, looks pimpin enough (only with 360 in the cap). I am itching to hear/see it run! ;D

Even when the pump is getting worn, they will pump lots of volume and pressure. When the pressure relief valve stuck on mine this summer, it ruined a 100psi gage, swelled up the oil filter so much the inside could rattle around, then blew out the filter gasket! hehe.. I remember when mine did that years ago... blew up like a ballon, and filled my apartment parking space with oi... good times! Bill

Okay, sounds like having a gasket in there is NOT an issue. ;D

I think an oil cooler wouldn't be a bad idea on an AMC V8. The oil seems to run fairly hot in them. It got worse on my AMX after I put the by-pass line in. I think the exhaust passage through the stock intake is transfering heat to the line. I guess one of those nice Edlebrock manifolds would fix that.

Goatse that thing is looking sick, nice job with what parts you went with. Thanks Ron, should be in and running this weekend! ;D Made some progress tonight. Got the oil pump rebuilt, block off plate for the fuel pump and crank seal into the timing chain cover. Water pump bolted to the timing chain cover and all that bolted up to the block. Primed the engine with oil, valley line does not leak and had oil at all the push rods. Made a bit of a mess with no oil pan on there. Intake manifold all bolted up. Damn silly-cone messing up my color theme! Pretty much all I can do until I pull the other engine on Friday night!

The engine is finally sitting in the engine compartment. took quite awhile to get everything cleaned, painted and swapped over. Spent some time actually getting the alternator braket figured out properly. Bennett was showing his creative side and painted the intake and valve covers with the engine paint so they'd match! and and finally in the Jeep, hmmmm looks too nice to be in my Jeep! ;D
