Hey folks, I've just moved from Vancouver with my jeep, and I made the mistake of buying a hard top rather than a new tub before leaving the Wet Coast. I figured hard tops are harder to find .. but I'd forgotten how rusty our vehicles get out here. Anyway .. my jeep needs a new body .. I need to MVI by mid-feb, and my cj has fist sized holes in the floor pans on both sides .. I'm pretty sure she won't pass. Damn it. I know I can buy a used tub from a wrecker in Van for $500, but shipping is going to be a bit costly. Does anyone know where I can find a tub in decent shape out here? I have strong aluminum corners for the back, so I can fix up rust in the rear corners, but otherwise I need it to be strong. I'm also looking for new seats, wide track axles, new rims, a 5 speed tranny, and eventually a more powerful engine to replace the V6 in there at the moment. Other than that .. hey .. she is running great.

The later style tubs go from '76 to '83. Very rare to see a good one for sale here. My '75 could use a new one too, but I keep patching it up. I'd love to have one of the aluminium ones they make in Kelowna. Fist sized holes, that's an easy fix compared to this...

I've been looking at the new aluminum tubs as well .. they look fantastic, but about 3x my price range. Though, if I could get my jeep MVI'ed in its current condition, I could save up enough to buy the aluminum tub in a year. However, I'm afraid that fisted-sized holes in the floor pans are enough to keep me from getting that little sticker. On the other hand, my tub is in better shape than the invisible one in your pic.

Yeah .. at this point, I guess I need to decide whether it is worth repairing the jeep, or selling it and starting with something that requires less work. But .. she is my baby.

Thanks. I really appreciate it. Once I can dig my jeep out of the snow (she's buried in a big drift behind my house, at the moment .. hehe), I'll take some pics and ask for some advice on how to proceed.
