Do they have to be registered and MVIed... or are they so non-obstructive that the towing vehicles lights are enough? Always wondered about that one.

as far as i know they need to be mvi and reg but nobody does

we just rented one and it was plated and MVI'd... however while driving back we were behind one that had no plate or lights... Of course after renting this splitter I now have plans to build my own this winter... the thing is made mostly of 1/4 inch square tubing.. kinda like one of Scotts supper rockers  |

Yes ! All wood splitters that are towed behind a vechile must be reg and lic. The way to beat this , Put the splitter in a utility trailer :-) but only if that is lic.

The way to beat this , Put the splitter in a utility trailer :-) but only if that is lic. or when you reguister your utility trailer you have the serial# and inspection sticker on a same piece of sheet metal that is hold on one trailer with 4 self taping screw and when you want to move the wood splitter you just remove the tag with the serial#/mvi with plate off the trailer and set it up on the wood spliter. its ilegal but you can save from reguistaring 2-3 utility trailers. bye the way i don't have any trailers.  |
