I like this one: Because if you aren't wheeling you can just take the truck and camper... and if you are wheeling and not camping you could haul two rigs or something bigger. Also if you need parts, the pickup is easier to cruise into town in than a somewhat big rig like the rest.... I don't like the tow behind the motorhome setup... what if you blow up something and can't flat tow it home... if you are wheeling hard you need a full trailer for the rig so you have to worry about having it in one piece... also less road wear on the off-road tires on long tow trips. The other setups are cool, but you'd need either a lot of $$, or time to fab up that bus... And is that something you could let the wife drive if needed?? Prob has air brakes on the bigger rigs.. so you'd both need to get that endorsement on your license.

Thats why I like the camper on the truck with the flatbed trailer. Best of all worlds. I have as much into the truck/camper as I would have into a motorhome, but I like having the truck.

Never thought about it that way. Thought the camper was permanent on the trailer... but I see the legs there. Good points.
Ya, the motorhome pic is without a trailer because I couldn't find a pic with a trailer. LOL
Here's another good point about the truck camper on the trailer; if the camper's not big enough for the kids and/ or their friends, they can tent on the other end of the trailer and stay off the ground.

The tent trailer's way up in the air because it's over the 5th wheel... otherwise waisted space. The deck is open for a rig(s).

Haven't got a pic right now (can get one though) but a buddy of mine in Calgary has gone the way I will go in the future. He has a Ford diesel 3/4 ton, has an Okanagon truck camper on the back, and just bought himself a fully enclosed trailer for the Jeep. His ideas for the trailer are more workshop oriented, but when we discussed it my ideas are a bit more extravagent. You could have the trailer set up with fold down cabinets, chairs, roll out carpet, etc. so that it becomes like a big living room when you take the Jeep out. Put a screen on the back of the trailer and it would be like a patio deck Best of all worlds. - truck and camper when not wheeling... short and maneuverable - truck and trailer when going for a short trip where you want to tow, and if it goes longer you just sleep in the trailer - truck, camper and trailer when you are on a long vacation and you want to set up and stay somewhere for a couple of days/weeks. And when you retire take that same trailer and put it behind a diesel motorhome. Another friend in Texas did that... and he went way overboard with the trailer... when he backed his Jeep out he had his exercise room and a fillable jacuzzi dropped down from the trailer ceiling. Of course he was full time RV'ing, so he needed the luxuries of home on the trail. If you're dreaming... ;D

Enclosed trailer will be my next thing. The truck and the camper are fine.

I like the enclosed trailer idea with the drop down beds/shelves, but it must be cramped to actually work in.
Len and Repete's setups are very practical, a decent truck, and a nice camper that can be dropped off in the park, then a dolly or car hauler. I follow the Pirate tow rig section, but like most it's just dreaming to have a setup to use once or twice a year. I keep telling myself I have way too much to maintain now, something else would have to go.

The guys on Pirate like the old U-Haul trucks. It'd almost be better then the bus, because you've got the main bed over the cab already! Too bad U-Haul don't maintain anything.

This thread has me looking at Kijiji for enclosed trailers... Shame on you all. LMAO I bet you just want the big blank sides so you can get "IAJT-YWU" in giant letters pasted on it. I don't understand why you would want to do that though...
