No the time I bought the house all the 5.3's were sold or a white one....so I'm waiting for the 2010 to come out....
But they are selling the 2009 4.8 cheat... so I was thinking what one would tow like...
so any one have one....

that's what is in the company truck and although I haven't towed with it I have had 2500lbs in it and power wise it was fine, revved up and went way better than the V6 I had previously

Moe has one, don't know if he's towed with it, or what happened to him? More is better if you plan to tow a lot.

I would call a few other dealerships. A guy at work just picked up a 09 blue z 71 with the 5.3 for 10 000 of the list price. I would not just trust one dealer to tell me what others have in stock, they want to sell what they have.

The 4.8's that I know of get better mileage than my 5.3 and report no problems with moderate loads. My 5.3 is no tow champ so I wouldn't let it be an issue.
6.0L is the powerhouse but thirsty.

Well, a 4.8L Chev has to be at least as good as a 4.7L Dodge, and it does good. not great, but holds its own with full trailer full of Roach behind it. Moe has one, don't know if he's towed with it, or what happened to him? Yeah, he's lurking somewhere. I don't think he's had the chance to do a major tow with his new rig yet. Last i heard, he had the brake controller all wired in tho..

It looks like you were towing fine to me Mike. Oh yeah, I'm not complaining, but the truck definitely lets you know its pulling the weight. Those hills on the way back from Liverpool, I could keep up with your rig, but I was winding it out to 4500 in passing gear to do it. The old "no replacement for displacement" for towing torque is true

Go for it. I have towed my CJ on my equipment hauler which is quite heavy compared to a car trailer. Tows like a champ. A 03 4x4 with a 4.8. I have also towed my travel trailer at about 7000 LB+, also no problem. I am quite certain my 4.8 is much better on fuel than the 5.3. I get about 25MPG if I remember correctly on the hwy. They do like the revs, but so do the 5.3L.

like my old 302, no power house, but it gets just as good a milage towing as a 460...... but much better empty i do avoide the biggest hills when i can, but i've towed way over my GCVW without any issues those new chev engines are pretty peppy, 4.8L is a big jump over the 4.6L ford. still have to work it with a load though. if it's not gonna be driven great distance without a load, lower gears are always an option. mine will be gettin' 4:10's, if i ever find a set for the 8.8 at the right price

My boss had the 4.8 in his, we roasted it comming back from NS towing my Jeep one year. It is not stellar, and if you get it hot it's done.
