That mess at the dash - where the windshield frame meets the bolt-on angle-turned-into-plate - will do noting in a rollover. You might want to redesign that.

Wording like that explains why your Karma is in the minus! Maybe try "constructive critism".

Not sure where you are going with this.....but the cage is not going to save the window.....that is not what I built it for but if you seen it in person you would see that i will protect Tracey and I just fine....go do some research on this.... Rod.... and I like my mess

Sorry, I didn't realise we were to be so politically correct - the 'junction' at the dash... I'm not worried about the windshield, I'm worried about the area that's plate-only, no webbing (where you cut away the angle - unless there something that's not visible in the pictures.) Any sideways load will cause that plate to bend, and the whole cage will then buckle. A chain's only as strong as its weakest link. I did do my research, it's called engineering school. But if your satisfied with it, go ahead. I couldn't care less what you do. Attachments:

No wonder engineers get a rep for being arsholes I do see that you are trying to help and I agree that there should be more support there, but stop fueling the stereotype.

Here's my take that no one asked for... lol The design isn't the ultimate in strength... don't think anyone would argue that. It is very much a compromise. If/when the rig flops, the cage will not protect the jeep from all damage. Hell, the windshield frame is higher than the cage... it'll be damaged for sure. That's not a surprise to anyone either. If the front hoop area takes a hit, the windshield frame, hoop, and dash are all going to take stress... but it's better than Rods head. There is definitely good protection there... but to get more protection is going to come at the cost of ease of use, and hacking the dash to shit. It's not a buggy (yet ), the cage is what it is... much better than nothing/stock spreader bars, but not the ultimate in strength. It should provide adequate protection. Ken... aren't you an engineer? Arsehole... Bill

I agree, Bill. It's a helluva lot better than having nothing at all, and that plate is pretty beefy - the combination of supports will likely protect the passengers/drivers. I'm just saying that if it's possible, he might want to redesign the cage at that area. Maybe it's not possible *shrug*

Could use a dashbar above the defrost to help keep from folding laterally. the weak spot would still be below that tho.
it's a flop cage, not a 100mph race cage. has that been mentioned in this thread?

looks like a copy of a production style, don't remember the name (genright ?)but if its good enough for them then it should work fine for our purposes - like creepy said its for flops primarily and maybe a full rollover not an end-over-end at high speed
