Ok, since the last snow/windstorm, the myra run on the eastern shore was closed off by lots of trees falling. I went out there with some friends on quads, and we were able to cut our way through for the bikes, but as it stands now, there needs to be a fair amount of trail clearing for jeeps to make it through. For those of you who don't know, its fairly challenging (from the perspective of a quad, thinking how a jeep would handle), theres plenty of mud, and there is one serious water crossing that may be fun/difficult.
I was wondering if anyone wanted to get togeather and clear this trail again, so that trucks can pass once again. It will likely take all day, and a few chainsaws will be needed. Just tossing the idea around, anyone think this is a good idea?

Just wondering Kevin but do you know of any local trails to run insted of Burnt Lake. I know last year a few people myself included found it pretty boring.

Where do you guys enter onto the trail to burnt lake? Conrod settlement rd? If so, I live 3 mins from there EDIT: BTW big6, the CB setup works great. I have a fair bit of ignition noise, but I'm 99% sure its because I wired into the cigarette lighter, I'll wire it direct to battery soon.

That's kinda what I was getting at Len, is there any way to have a back up trail incase Burnt Lake is clear like it was last year. You are right Burnt Lake brings the suck when there's no snow and ice.

We will definately have a back up for this years New Years festivities. I am in total agreement that Burnt Lake is a winter trail, and without winter, it's not much of a trail. So lets hope for some good snow/ice conditions.
Yes Rob, we do enter thru Conrad Settlement. Do you know of any other trails, or possible trails in that area? I'm always up for some exploration.

Have you tried going in from the Porter's Lake end, on the right side of the river. Cross the little white bridge.
there is a mirror image trail on the other side of the river than the usual myra run, at the Porter's lake end.
there are some offshoots going uphill, away from the river. There was a good challenging hill climb on one of them, but a 4' Redwood lookin' tree is blocking it after Juan. quads go under. It's huge.
there are more uphill offshoots farther down. I usually cross the river and 180 back to Porter's lake when coming home.
the trail along the river is very easy. same as other side.

You're right on the trees down! all the valley trails are littered with broken trees and limp limbs...in the last couple trails I've run since the storm my handy lil' saw has had a good workout...oh and some of the water crossings are getting a good layer of ice.

I'm up for beaverbank as well because I have never been on it, but I was hoping for something a little closer to home for my next run.
For the myra run, how about next sunday? (not this sunday, but the sunday after.) That would be Dec. 12th. I'll be heading up there, and bringing my chainsaw around 10am. Anyone wanting to join me would be awesome.
