i know how to find the manufacturer's recomended max GCVWR, but i would like to know how the province goes about determining this. i've searched the gov sites till i was blue in the face, and no luck, unless i'm running a class 3 truck, and a tag..
i'm wondering, cause ford lists our 4x4 F-250HD, 351W 4bbl HO as only being able to haul 300 lbs more then my 2wd, f-150 w/302........ wtf???

Part of the towing capacity is determined by vehicle length and weight along with factory braking power, 4x4 is not taken into account.
The GCVWR should be on the vehicles door if not then a search may turn up something eventually.

the GCVWR wasn't on the door... well. no door came with the truck.... my '90 doesn't have it either, just GVWR, and GAWR. the manual states the recomended GCVWR, according to model, engine, tranny, and RAR....... no mention of wheel base, or that would be a plus for my 150 (155"wb).
from what i've read online, these are the suggested ratings, and not what the province goes by to determine the GCVWR.... i only take the interweb for so much truth, and have been tring to find something in writting from the DOT, guess i might have to bite the bullet, and stop at the local dmv...

btw, the f-250 is registered as a '94 f-250, with 8600 GVWR. reg, cab, long box the f-150 is a '90 extended cab, longbox
both auto's, and 3:55 gears

It's probably more about how much you want to pay for registration than what the truck is actually safe to haul.

well. the truck is registered for more then it can haul. but that doesn't include the trailer weight the last time i checked...
