Guess the Jeep wants some attention now that the Neon is fixed.
Last night, and this morning when I started the XJ it was only showing 11-12 volts on the gauge (lights are dim, etc but it doesn't drop even with the lights and rear defroster on). After driving for 5-10 minutes it jumped back up to its regular 14-15 volts.
I'm going to clean the battery terminals tonight, any other suggestions?

-Spark Plug & Plug Wire Cleaner- Patented high-tech design allows KaleCo Plug/Wire cleaner to reclaim old spark plugs and wires! Did you know that tune-ups are completely unnecessary? The only reason your car has bad spark is dirt in the plug lines, and build up on the spark plugs! Simply pour this cleaner into your battery, step back, and watch the engine run smoother! Not for use on vehicles equipped with Opti-Spark. Seriously, check the ground for the battery too (battery to chassis). I have a resistor on my driver's side fender I'm supposed to watch when things get wonky like that (so I'm told), but it's an '89, so they likely did away with that for ya. After that, maybe a bad battery? Never happened to my '94 so I'm just ripping things off the top of my head.

Ah Duane Duane Duane, I know the world conspires against you but really if it didn't happen to you it COULD happen to some one else. ;D
Sounds very alternator related Enos. probably sticky/worn brushes. perhaps some dirt in side, no thats not at all likely.

That's what I was thinking John. Maybe I'll pull it off this weekend and give it a good cleaning.

Duane, Duane, Duane, you should know by now that resistor is just for the fuel pump! And it it quits, just hook the 2 wires together and you can drive it to get another!

That's a good point, my tightener is broken so its tightened the old fashioned way - big pry bar. With the cold weather it could be slipping until things warm up. Looks like I'm going to be busy out in the rain checking everything this weekend. Why is it always raining or snowing when I have to work on a vehicle in the yard!!

I had mine do this, had a ton of trouble trackin down the problem. Even went as far as replacing the Alt and belts and prob didnt go away. Found out l8r that it was a severly worn pulley on the Alt!!! didnt matter how new the belt was, worn anought that it slipped all the time!!
