So, I'm on the look out today, since it's a nice damp day - like all the others when my MJ has resfused to start. It hits in the drive-thru at McDonalds...truck just stops running. Put it in neutral, restart and I'm in business again...though it stumbles a couple of times and does a faky like it's going to stall, but catches again. ...and back in November we replaced the CPS because, since I had this same (or so I thought) problem with the Cherokee, we figured that was it again...guess not. So, any input available? Not anything out of the ordinary here - I'm not slamming through puddles, or hosing down the engine or anything. Just seems liek the truck doesn't like damp weather. I know that's not it, but where to start on this problem...?

I'd check the typical things like condition of the plug wires, dist cap and rotor. If those check out then I'd start looking for bad grounds or a short in the ignition...like crusty ol' wires to the coil.
Ya know... rust check is a dielectric. Spray the above with a light coating of rust check and see what happens on the next damp day.

The truck was just trying to save your life (either that or it was tired of hauling your "Supersize Me" a$$ around) and keep you from eating another Mickey D's meal.
Seriously though, if its only happening when its wet, check those wires, rotor, etc. If you don't have access to Rust Check, WD40 will help keep the moisture out.

Oooooh, I can't WAIT to see what Santa brings YOU! LOL OK, those were the items I was thinking of. Any other sensors, etc. that can cause this errant kind of non-start/suddenly stop running kind of thing? Throwing a guess onto the table, I'll say it's water getting into something uninvited. BUT WAIT! That's couldn't happen...not to a Jeep...even 16 year old one...nah...

If the plug wires, cap, and rotor haven't been changed in a while, it would be a good investment to put some new ones on it even if it wasn't the problem.
Try to get a cap with brass terminals, aluminium ones build up corrosion that makes the dampness in there even more of a problem.

I'm willing to bet these are more than a couple of years old...LOL I think you're on the money about that Alan - problem or not, now's a good time for new gear.

Canadian Tire. They are/were red with brass and included the rotor in the box. Dunno about preformance ratings on their stuff... I got two years from it so far.

Not sure if CT has them anymore, but NAPA does.
