I picked up a set of rims off of an older XJ at the U-pick junkyard on Friday. I assumed they would be 15x7s, but they are 15x6s. How big a tire can I mount on 15x6s? In particular, can I mount my new 235-75 snow tires on these rims?

Yes you can put 235s on 6 inch rims but not much bigger than that John

In Ch'town PEI. It's just around the corner from my work,.. I go there for a strole sometimes on lunch or coffee break.
By the way, I got a set of five 5 blade 'jeep' rims last night for $50 and my problem is solved.

James - you're living in the Garden of Eden , where you can stroll through a junk yard at lunch time, next to work.

It's not a good junkyard though... only to jeeps in the whole place, both XJs, and one is stripped clean already.
The rims were private sale,.. best I could do at the junkyard was a set of rusty old 15x6s, hence the post.

Since we are on the subject of junk yards. Anyone know of any around HFX that allow "strolls" through them on a person's "lunch break"? lol (couldn't resist James )

I've walked through Kinsmans a few times looking for stuff. I don't know the rules for that but I got permission from the guy at the desk before going in. he knew who I was anyway because I am there often buying odd things. I was in there looking for explorer stuff.... basically found specific parts and wrote down where the vehicles were in the yard, then went back to the office and told them what I wanted so they could pull the parts.
I don't recall ANY jeeps in there except for the really really really beat up CJ7 that is parked out front...belongs to an employee there.
