How can i test the alternator myself for output? Im guessin a multi-meter but which setting on meter and where do i put the test probes?
I took mine apart tonight because its only puttin out 9A which is in the red. Cleaned up the stator and other part that it is sposed to contact it but that didnt work. Cleaned up all contacts but still no go. Brushes are making good contact but are gettin worn down due to all mud and crap bein thrown at it.
Any ideas??
J.
P.S.- Alt. was new in spring from Stealership.......

Probably the regulator is toast but since it is internal to the alternator it is still going to mean a rebuilt alternator is in your future. John

Ive got a cpl at home but theyre diff Amp. than the one i have now. Ones approx 110A, would internals fit from that one? Justin Like i said its only 1/2 yr old EDIT: Forgot to pull the pin that i put in to hold brushes in after i had it apart so i went back out and removed it and it went to normal operation for approx 45 sec...then reverted back to 9A......WTF? Guess ill hafta make trip to APJ's.....
