It sounds like a power interruption to the clock/computer. How that might happen I have no idea. John

John is right. Reset the clock. I think it's done by resetting the radio time and it is relayed to the display below.

Well i am able to reset the time by the set switch right on the computer screen itself .. but then it just resets itself again when i start the truck again

What is the time on the Radio display? In my Grand Cherokee they are connected.

They arent connected as my radio in my truck is a sony explode cdplayer and that clock is independent ... but even before that the stereo that was in it had a clock set function on it ...
I definately think its a bad connection somewhere now though because this afternoon it started shutting off totally while i was driving...the whole display on the screen would dissappear...and then come back on

You definately have a bad connection, I'm no help chasing that one down. Maybe someone else has had that experience good luck Andy.

If it's after market, I'd be asking myself who installed it? If you did then you'll know where you hooked into the power supply. If it was a cut and hack job and believe me I've seen so called pro's cut and hack, I'd start at the unit and search back. There will be a powered off suppy and a constant. Some people install power from the panel using proper gear. Some people like to find a hot wire and strip back some plastic and wrap the wire around the other one. Somewhere you have a make and break connection and it needs to be found. Thats how shorts burn up nice shiney Jeeps!
People seem to be attracted to the cig lighter power supply. That may be a good place to start.
If you are considering adding other 12 volt gear, I'd hook up a seperate panel. PA has a nice blade fuse panel 6 circuts. Run a piece of #8 wire through a grommet and put a reset breaker on it. Attach the panel to the inside fire wall and run the main power from the battery. I've done this in all my Jeeps and can hook up the CB,Rock lights,Driving lights etc. The battery acts as a choke and cuts out noise. Down side it is constant power. If thats a problem hook up a relay and power that.

Roger...will check the battery connections ... Diablo the computer is the factory console and has not been tampered with ... the aftermarket cdplayer i installed has no power interruptions whatsoever so impretty sure that it is connected in anyway
