My new TJ door lock has frozen in the locked position 3 times in the week I have owned it. I'm using up lock de-icer like crazy. One bottle had teflon in it, but that didn't seem to help.
A couple thoughts... my rig is from texas, it has no block heater or rear defrost,.. perhaps it has non 'winter-duty' locks... is that possible?
Second, my door latch needs to be lubricated, more likely, does this seem like the ticket?

Although lock de-icer is good to get into the truck it also washes any and all lube out of it allowing moisture in. I would also recommned Rust Check. It will lube both your lock and latch while displacing any moisture.WD40 will also get rid of moisture bUt doesn't last long. My .02 Bruce

I use white grease. I've never had an issue. I generally use my keyless entry to open the doors. I've never had the lock freeze using the key to open though.

I tried rust check on my most recent door lockage, this afternoon at home depot. the 'red straw' wouldn't stick in the nozzle and I ended up rust checking a fair bit more than I had intended, included my gloves. I was able to get the door open in the end,.. we'll see how long this one lasts.
I'm getting the whole rig rust checked next week, so they will probably hit both the door latch and lock again during their routine.

Good call. that stuff is great. They should be spraying inside the doors with the wand thing that goes inside the latch on the side of the door. Does wonders. If you are getting it done in Metro Halifax I recommend Sackville Rust Check on Cobequid, just down from APJs. Colin does a good job.

No, I'm in Ch'town PEI. I'm considering taking it to Walmart, but I may pay the extra for rust check, especially on its first coat.
