Well well well I was changin my axle seals, rear, and got as far as the diffrential cross shaft/center pin, and wouldn't ya know it, a broken lock/bolt what next I say, "go to bed", ooohh nooo," I got to fix this right now", my silly little brain was sayn', So out comes the welder," wait ", my brain says," maybe we can drill this out", Did you ever try drillin out a cross shaft bolt before, well a half inch hammer drill will not work! , back to the welder, a little pool here a little pool there, "oh wait", my brain says, "is that, it is, you idiot you welded the bolt to the carrier! what are you going to do now? I could go on like this for a couple more hours but I wont, a hammer and a punch and a little more weld, and I'm the proud owner of half of a retaining bolt. Now I just gots to get another one.... out of a diff......behind my barn..... under a snow bank.....from a 35 that already broke 2 t-40's, what a freakin' night, I'm goin to bed.... hopefully somone will get a laugh out of this, because I definitly did not!

Now I remember why I take mine to the garage or other Jeepers to have things fixed. Bobby you sound like me 40 years ago. Good luck with that bolt.

Hey at least yours was seized in place. I bought my YJ CHEAP! cause the guy who owned it had the pin fall out and WOW what a mess. I've since seen 2 others do the same thing.
It sure gets a person wound up when something stupid causes so much headach!!
I'm glad I'm older cause now instead of beating the crap out of something, I go have a coffee and think about it or just go see a friend till I calm down.

well, under a snow bank there was a diff, a full floater 35, and after diggin it up and luggin it into the garage, and tearin the cover off, to my dissmay, I see a squeeze/split pin holding that cross shaft in place well I call a few of my buddies see waht they got, to no avail... So I go ahead and start on the transmission filter, meanwhile my rear diff is partially dissasembled, with no clear answer in sight, I thought I'd go do an easier job, well it actually went pretty well ;D My buddy shows up, just to see what I was complaining about, A Ford Guy, he says to me did ya check all he diffs out back, No of course i did not, one dissapointment like that was all I needed, he said i remember a c-clip axle housing with no axels back there, Well if you remember soo well go dig it up! I said this mildly taunted with his nagging, so being the good buddy he is he grabs a shovel, 3-4 mins later he's yellin at me to comegive him a hand, well I'll shortin' this up alittle a couple mins later, i was up a better lookin' cross shaft pin and retaining bolt. wwhew thank God for friends, that will take your abuse when your in a bad mood.. ps..... I have no idea why I had a c-clip 35 with no axles but still had the cross shaft and bolt intact I cant figure that one out
