how did the heater upgrade go. i have a 89 heep also and it cold. what was involved in doing this? bite late to do it, so it will be a summer project

Soooo, Chevy stuff, eh? Did you use a Blazer heater blower?

Yeah, the HEI is screamin'.....we put the HEI in after tearing every bit of it apart, greasing and sanding (even buffing!!) it until like new, it had "racing" weights already in it so it was upgraded even before we got it. Added 8MM spark plug wires ans new NGK spark plugs and new fuel pump. I'm amazed at the result. The heater was from a Chevy, but my buddy had it laying around his shop, we don't know exactly from what Chevy tho, but a Blazer is a good guess. He put one in his jeep first (we both have HEI and the heater upgrade now), and the heater took maybe 1 1/2 hours to do, and it literally is too hot now.

Sorry Gonejeepn, i guess i didn't really answer your question. The old heater is taken out (all from the inside), and the extra space for the larger heater is cut out with a grinder, the new heater is cut to dimension and put in. The holes for the screws are drilled.....add seam sealer...and VOILA.....the heat that it throws is impressive. Like I said, It's my buddy's second one and its becoming easier now that he's done a couple. I, on the other hand, couldn't butter bread without help!!!!
