I am freaking out that a trailer that old has to have that done to it. WTF?
My brand new Jayco appears to have the same construction. Where/why did it leak?

not insane i would do another as soon as i finish this one thes was alot easer then the tent trailer. we had bought that one damaged alot more work.
just by looking at it you can see how it is put togeather once, you removed some of the wood. there was a bit of chance that it would not stay all togeather. we left the cabnets and bunks in to help tie the walls togeater
its an 2003, so you have a few years to go. there were alot of leaks , around the windows, where all the pipes and wires go down thorght the floor( when driving the spray gets in). there really poorly built if water gets in it cant get out. even around the fenders the silacon was cracked and the the water just runs in over the inner fender to the wood floor.
we did get it real cheap. it was a big job to do outside would have been easer to do it in a big shop. we learned alot about trailers and i would do it again as soon as this one is done. it was a good weekend alot of fun.
even had to use the winch on the jeep to pull the last bit of frame into place

Wow, I'm impressed that you were able to pull that trick. Typically the cabinets are fastened to the floor. I'm curious how you managed to free them from the floor. And it was only an 03 trailer? It has me wondering about my 91 travel trailer and just how bad it's floor must be I know my roof has a soft corner Did you lay new vinyl before sliding it back in place? What's next? inspecting the brakes and repacking the wheel bearings?

the cabinets and inside walls were all screwed down to the floor. it took a few evenings to get the all out. had to unhook some elec and water lines and drains. yes we rolled new vinyl down when we had the frame out, made it easy to do. next on the list would be to put the inside back togeather.
checked all the breakes and bearings last summer. i will pull it apart again just to repack the bearings before it hits the road
