Not sure the gym is the best idea in the final weeks... as you body will add muscle quickly and you will probably gain a couple pounds in the short term. Your best bet at this point is interval training with body weight exercises... If you are not feeling the same effects from your workouts either change the reps, the rest or the intensity. I suggest you hit a boxing or mma gym.
Also, for your final week do some research on how boxers/mma fighters do their final weight cut. You can loose 10-15 pounds in the final days leading up to the weight in... yes, most of it is water but that is what you want to win this thing.
Good luck.

Not the healthiest way but my buddy who was a wrestler and needed to get his weight down for the class he wanted to be in would wrap himself in garbage bags and go jogging and he would shed pounds daily. I hope you have dropped pop from you diet also...I went considerably over weight a few years back and I cut pop out of my diet, drank lots of water, ate smaller portions and did a ton of push ups and sit ups every time I thought of it while watching TV or whatever...I also drank beer like it was going out of style and lost close to 25 LBS in one month...
Good luck man!!

well i thought i was doing everything right. i eat less and right (very little red meat, low sodium and carbs), no junk what-so-ever, no alcohol of any kind, excersize and have been getting lots of sleep. I haven't even had white bread or starches for frig sakes! i think ill try the body weight excersizes, so i don't pack on muscle weight. and for the last week, liquids only and sweat it out the day before the weigh in.
I used to be a pepsi freak, i haven't had one in a month. i tried a diet pepsi and it made me want to gag. water and chocolate milk for me.
thanks for the support!

We'll see, we'll see. Concentrate on your task at hand, then worry about wheeling circles around me. ;D

another week has flown by and I have managed to continue a marginal weight loss. I have finally broken the 200 barrier as I weighed in this morning at 14.21 stone. Or for us Americanized people 199 pounds. I also haven't had a decent bowel movement in quite sometime so I am thinking I could be as low as 198 or 197 when the moons align.
I have discovered something called the Grapple(Grape flavored apple). It's a red gala apple, somehow injected or soaked in pure Concord grape juices. It's quite the trip the first batch you eat, almost beats out honey crisp in my books. They are semi expensive at 4.99 for 4 of them, but the change from the daily grind of whole grain this and low sodium that makes it worth it.
18 days left!!!

Muscle weights less than fat, or so i have been told by my dr... And the more muscle you have the more calories you are going to burn, which is effectivly what you want to have happen. You are going to have to add in free weights to build up muscle or you will end up staying where your at....
Ive done a bit of research into this subject as i to have extra i need to loose, Im hopeing to have a manual labour job in the next few weeks as well to help with this, waiting for payday to buy a decent pair of running shoes so i can get my ass in gear... Im also gettin a gym pass.

i looked into the saying about muscle vs. fat and it looks like per volume muscle actually does weigh more than fat. its like if you had 100ml's of syrup (muscle) and 100ml of water (fat), sure they're the same amount but the syrup is denser therefore it's heavier.
anywho i picked up a basic home gym off the trusty old kijiji hoping to get some muscle confusion going and burn a few extra calories like you mentioned without building too much muscle, but i don't imagine i will build much if any in 16 days.
let me tell you, never buy a cable operated home gym that doesn't have instructions to route the cables. im pretty sure they designed it just to F*** with your mind, but i finally got it figured out.

I missed on this thread completely man - congrats! Keep it up.
If you really want some motivation for running I suggest you wrap some red meat around your ankles and go for a run in the woods around my place. The coyotes will find you and give you quite a rush/need to run. What you don't burn off running you will burn of sweating from fear!

if i strapped juicy, meaty steaks to my legs, i think i would be the one to eat them before the coyotes hahaha
also running in the east end of truro can also cause one to put an extra hop in their step to get out of certain neighborhoods as fast as possible.
but i'll keep your idea in mind for when i need a life altering experience, thanks for the support Andrew!

I can't believe another week has gone by. This will be my 2nd last post before the official weigh in. This morning I weighed in at 194lbs. I appear to have put my body back in fat burning mode. i think the combination of the basic weight training and running really jump started my metabolism again. A big thanks to those who made that recommendation! 27.5lbs is my total weight loss to date which would be 12.42% I still have this feeling at the back of my mind that my scales are a piece of crap and are weighing me wrong. this morning i jumped on the digital scale and it weighed me at 192.5, i nearly crapped my pants so i stepped off and stepped back on again, 192.5. i stepped on the other scale (analog) which usually weighs me 2 pounds lighter and it read 192 i stepped back on the digital scale and sure enough 194.5 haha i've always used the digital as the main scale so i'll stick with it. I just googled what 5lbs of fat looks like... that makes me feel like an absolute weight losing boss!

Congrats on the loss man! I'm in a much longer-term experiment of my own with that, been at it for a year. Listen to Smith, he knows what he's talking about
