Replaced the leaky Durango box with a rebuilt TJ box that (hopefully) won't leak for at least a few months. Installed compressor and new belt to get the OBA project rolling. Tank and misc crap goes in next weekend. While I was under the Jeep, I noted that my steering stabilizer is leaking. Guess tomorrow will be a drive to APJs. Did you have to return the old box as a core? I returned my old TJ box as a core. So now I have a leaky Durango box in the barn instead of a leaky TJ box. Now if only I could just get the drag link turnbuckle un-seized so I could re-center my steering wheel.

I thought about going that route before buying one from NAPA. I could get to the pitman seal easily enough, but wasn't able to get the input shaft end apart. Then some qualified folks pointed out that if the pitman shaft were scored from when it was leaking, it would likely leak with the new seal. An I never was able to track down an appropriate wrench to measure torque to set up the box afterwards (as stated in the FSM). So at that point, I said screw it and just bought a replacement to save myself some headaches.

yesterday got most of my last-minute work done to the yj. pulled off the front fender flares, and cut out a couple sections of rotten holes. filled in the holes with some fresh metal and welded them in place, smoothed it all out, and hit the area with a coat of body fill. drove to digby after realizing it would take forever outside to do any body work with the cold temperatures. sanded body fill, then applied more, while was waiting for it to dry, took out my cracked windshield, and put in my new one. I then sanded some more, then sanded a bit more, then hit the fender with some fresh paint. while it was taking up, took to the other side, and taped off a stripe along the fender line, and sprayed that with a bit of rock guard, then when the paint was cured, went back to ther other side again, and taped it off, and did the same stripe. once that was all drying, I threw on the tailpipe I have had off for the last several months, and then put my flares back on.

Installed an electric fan control on the Jeepster. Works great. Fully automatic for now, I'll have it switched on the key eventually. Didn't put a switch on it, the rad is above the frame, I won't be in water that deep.
Vacuumed and cleaned the Grand and did the windows, first layer of winter grime off.

Changed the bottom shock bushings in the rear, cleaned and re-oiled the K&N air filter, replaced the hard top with the soft top and straightened up the crap in the back!
