Got an Cobra wx75 for Christmas ;D Mike and I finally got around to installing it yesterday.
Hopefully this will help some of the newer jeep owners who are concerned with space... there isn't a lot of real estate in a TJ
The product... the box is tiny and the controls are on the hand held. It has an external speaker output but no PA.
First thing on the list... make a bracket for the antenna. Mike fabbed up this little bracket... the idea is to attach it through the regular tire carrier bolt. The bottom is curved so it doesn't spin since it is only held by one bolt (it molds to the carrier shape)
You could just drill a hole in the tire mount but often you can't get it far enough back to allow the antenna to be straight.. especially with 33+ tires
Grabbed one of these little connectors to tap power from the fuse box... on the '03-'06 there is a 10amp and 20amp 'extra fuse'... on '97-'02 there are actually auxiliary wires to attach to so this little devise is not needed.
Antenna mounted on the bracket.
The CB box will fit behind the glove box... and can be zip tied to the heater ducts. Completely hidden but easily assessable.
In this picture you can see where the attachment comes out of the bottom... this will be completely hidden once the mic is attached.
One last little hint... there is a screw in the dash next to the ignition that can be used to mount the CB holder... no need to drill holes in your dash I just re-used the factory bolt but a little longer one would be nice.
The wiring is run down the jeep on the passenger side, coiled up near the rear roll bar then out of the corner of the window... one zip tie to the hinge. Almost completely out of sight. I am going to add an external speaker... the wiring will run up through the roll bar padding and mount near drivers left ear... will update a pic of that at another time.
