I received a Viair system for xmas this year... thanks to Doug I finally got a chance to install it today.
We did the install in Doug's nice warm garage
We began by running a power wire from the battery to the rear of the jeep. The kit provides a wire and inline fuse. Drilled a quick hole (wanted to keep the wiring on the passenger side)
Next we ripped into the dash. I wanted to make the gauge/switch install look somewhat factory... I searched the internet for pics and finally decided to mount them in the ashtray blank.
Doug sizing up the gauge and cutting a hole in the dash plate... he looks at me and says "ahh... you want to cut this hole" lol
Running a few more wires. We ran power from the battery as mentioned then a wire back to the switch in the dash and an air hose to the gauge. The only small mistake we made was running keyed power to the gauge light... it is on when the jeep is on. I will change that so it comes on with the lights at some point.
Doug happy with his handy work ;D
Close up... I think it looks clean
We just placed the tank/compressor in the back for now... ran the wires and tested everything. First try we got nothing... then realized we didn't put the fuse in the inline fuse holder lol
The wires all cleaned up... and the temporary mounting location. I zip tied the tank/compressor for now. Mike and I will make permanent brackets some evening this week.
I will update the bracket pictures in this thread later in the week. I will need to mount the quick connect outside of the rig somewhere... most likely on the bumper.
Again, big thanks to Doug for his time and garage... and special thanks to Lisa for supper It was great.
One last pic... a glimpse at the next mod
