I got a few new flexxx pics today, Shawn and I were just farting around in his yard, having fun with the skinny pedal and trying out the trans brake. I wasn't familiar with a trans brake before this, and for others who don't know...basically it is a switch that somehow disconnects the transmission, even if the tranny shifter is in drive. So, you can rev it up and hold 'er at 4000rpm with the trans brake switch on, flick the switch and the friggin thing is taking off like a ROCKETSHIP. It's QUICK. For those who saw it on the weekend, it wasn't really working well at all. Turns out the air breather was basically plugged up with mud, right from the get go (it was not new, plugged up from a past truck it was on). So at Mudfest, it was only breathing through basically a straw, when it needs a LOT of air. Today I saw it in action with it breathing properly and it's about what you'd expect for a 540ci and 670 horsies on an aluminum Jeep tub. LOL. When he flicks off the trans brake with the tranny in 1st and holding at 4000rpm, it is INSTANTLY on the rev limiter before he can rachet shift into 2nd (it's only a 2 spd), and your at max speed in about 60ft. haha. And the tractor tires throw some serious sods. I'd say it probably gives a good enough hole shot to compete with the BFG series trucks, but then your kinda done because your topped out at max speed. There's only 2.5:1's in the Profab now, but the truck could handle 1:1 easily. I can't WAIT to see this thing at Valley Crawl. Bring your earplugs, cause it has a serious bark to it. Flexed out on the trailer. In the pics, there is still around 2-3" of uptravel left in the Kings, so we figured it could probably flex up another foot or so before it's maxed and against the bumpstops. The proud new Jeep owner. Having a drink of rum in the garage and talking about the other rigs of the Valley Crawl. Got thinking about ground clearances of the different types of axles that would be there. This is a 14b on 39's (my old Chevy). Untrimmed pumpkin, so you can easily gain a good inch there, which probably most buggy guys at the Crawl would be. Mohawked Rockwell. 5 inches more clearance, even allowing for a trimmed 14 bolt. WOW

How much taller are the tractor tires than the Irocks? It's going to be interesting see this rig in the rocks. Not sure if it'll fit through PowderPuff,But should be lots of room on Highvoltage and the Ringer.

I think around 4" Rue...53-54". Shawn was saying today that he might end up running the tractor tires for the Crawl, mostly for the narrower width advantage. The Iroks make the rig 12" wider than the tractors (tractors take it down to 100" wide), and that might make a big difference on those tight trails. Should be interesting seeing those on a rock face!!

We did some measuring and it looks like if he brings the Iroks in any closer they will hit the body when it flexes (look how close the rear tractor tire is to the body in the 3rd pic above). That was part of the decision to run the tractor tires at the Crawl. At this point the Iroks aren't looking so spectacular as a choice anymore.

if i recenter the irocks than i will half to take off the front fenders and remove alot of tin in the rear. i want to see what these tractor tires will hook on. it may not be good on a rock face, but if there is anything to grab im sure they will find it and throw it.

how did the pinion brakes work?
Were you doing anything that would build heat on the weekend? Or just quick bursts and lots of time to cool?
(At Crawl, we'll be sitting around watching a lot, they shouldn't get hot.)

oops, I meant where the brakes getting hot? i'm curious about fade with a build-up of heat.
Good to hear the coolant stayed cool tho, 180 is awesome for a carb motor. 42L is alot of coolant.
