well i have been doing alot of thinking. trying to weigh out all the pros and cons. please post up your opinions and advice. I have started thinking about instead of doing the 4.3 swap into my jeep just cutting the body up on the blazer and making it into a buggy "with some jeep inspiration" i guess my big concerns are which route would have the best balance of cost/enjoyment. My other big concern is transport. i have a truck now that should have no problem towing it around but the blazer already has a tow bar on it and im unsure if i can use that or if i will need a trailor. Brandon has provided me with this info. www.gov.ns.ca/just/regulations/regs/mv8673.htmso all that being said what are everyones opinions?

if you got the time and money for all the parts do it
you all ways need parts for motor swaps ;D like custom radiator and hose wiring gages drive shafts cables and sifters for tranny and t-case fuel pump and lines exhaust power steering lines I was going to put a 4.3l in my jeep this winter too but i'm going to live with the 2.5l power
it works great now with 4.88 gears and motor upgrades it's all the power I need I like 4cly jeep any way any one can drive a 4.0l or v8 jeep it takes a big man to drive a 2.5l jeep ;D
but it you want to do it , do it and don't look back I have did about 25 motor swap in jeeps/ford truck/camaros/suzuki samurai /ect . it's all ways fun project but it does take some time
and you could all ways put a jeep body on the blazer frame too , for a offroad rig and tow it with your 4cly jeep it wood tow it just not to fast
or part out the blazer and make some money

i still need some words of encouragement to set me in the right direction. maybe some buggy guys could voice their opinion also if anyone has already done the 4.3l swap what kind of problems can i expect?

Mine was in a YJ so theres some differences,
Not bad, get good wiring diagrams for bothe the engine and the TJ, get a witing diagram for the bulkhead connector at the firewall (If TJ's have them) thats where I did all my marrying into the Jeep system.
I cut out all the unused circuits and really cleaned up all the connections.
An ECU pin out for the 4.3 is handy as well, to make sure you picked up all the keyed 12 volts the ECU needs to run properly.......
Conversion wiring harnesses are pretty cheap, that was a stumbling block for me as I hate wiring.

build what ya want, as long as time and money is there. if you build what others want you to build than a good chance it will not get finished or never get drove, than that was a waste of time and money. any engine swap will fit into any jeep. same with frames and driveline, some just take a bit more screwing around.

You need to know what your goal is. A motor swap will likely reduce the value, if you plan to keep it forever no big deal. If you want to sell in the near future don't do it. The 4.3 HP wise is similar to a Jeep 4.0. Depending what years maybe even less HP.
A few of us have done the 4.3 TBI swap, it's no big deal, a later model TPI (CPI?) swap is different again. As Moe said it's doable with diagrams. As for trans mount you'll have to fab one, also not a big deal if you have access to a grinder and a welder, same as engine mounts. Transfer case is similar to a Jeep, if it's lifted you may need a SYE for a chev instead of a Jeep. New driveshafts will need to be made. Some chevs have electric transfer case shifters, so something will need to be done there along with the trans shifter.
In my opinion it comes down to whether you want a project or not. In the end the 4.3 won't wow you when you hit the skinny pedal, you'll get used to the power difference in no time. The TJ probably should never had the 4 cyl in the first place, but in the woods it's all you need. Mud bogs are a different story.

Im still trying to decide what to do with the blazer. i have been thinking of the amount of work to put it into my jeep or if i want to build a buggy. so im kind of thinking of a mix between this and this so ill just cage it off the blazer frame and leave it on the leaf springs for now. and as time goes on depending on how i like the buggy i may get rid of the blazer frame and fully tube frame it.
