Wine makes me cry. Put on Springsteen's 'the River' and its all over.
Did you have to take the knuckle off to get those suckers in there? any grinding?

Grape Juice Trev, took 3 glasses to work up the courage to take the wheel off. lol
The lower Ball Joint stud and nut had about 1/8 shaved off for boot clearance and the knuckle had to come right off. I removed the top insert ,slid in the shaft with the boot on it and fit the CV in the Knuckle then I could lift and wiggle it up into place. On my Chevy knuckle setup I had to grind into the knuckle and C to make it open far enough to jam it in with allot of interference with the boot, I should have done it this way, it only took a few minutes.

The RCV's have a 30 spline stub, and the Scout spindles had too small of a bore for them to fit through (IH liked to make things strong!). The key way was cut deep on them, so I had to weld that in first, then chase the threads on the lathe, bore them out, and then cut a new key way. No worries of them not being strong enough, they are now the same a Ford/Chev 1/2 ton spindles.

Great job Alan and Tracy!! I gave them a good beating this weekend, it's a great feeling that you can completely crank the steering wheel and put the throttle down without the fear of blowing up a stupid u-joint!! Jeff
